Irene herself is a bit of a local legend, everyone on the Akrotiri seems to know her. No one knows how old she is and no one would dare ask! The food is basic Greek cuisine but helpings are large and the local wine served in carafes is very reasonably priced.
Unless you are very hungry don’t bother with dessert as you will get either a small sweet pastry or fruit after you have asked for the bill, together with a glass of raki, the local clear alcohol, strong and with an acquired taste that is well worth acquiring! You’ll find this custom in most restaurants on Crete.
Ramblers is a friendly bar with very good and reasonably priced food, and a great atmosphere. Mainly English/American dishes, with great steaks, fish and chips, full English breakfasts and Sunday roasts! They often have karaoke and live Greek music evenings.
TERSANAS BEACH BAR
Owned and run by Sarah, who is English, serving drinks and hot and cold snacks. Friendly, with a shaded seating area, and good views over the small bay and harbour.
TERSANAS FISH RESTAURANT
A little further around from the beach, set above the rocks at the end of the small harbour.
Boasts a good traditional menu, including a variety of local fish. A delightful restaurant with some tables set out amongst the rocks overlooking the bay.
This is an open air restaurant, but the whole area is covered by vines giving a wonderfully local feel. Speaking of local, you will notice a lot of Greek people eat here, a good guide to the quality of the food.
A 10 min drive to Stavros from the villa, and carefully following the small signs to Sunset Beach, you come to a beach restaurant with sun beds, and parasols covered with palm leaves.
Run by Malika, a French lady, the food here is excellent for daytime or evening. Her dakos is, in our opinion, the best around. Add a Nissos beer or two, or carafe of local white wine, and finish with a honey raki… all right on the beach. What more could you ask?
ALMYRIKI
This converted windmill at Stavros beach is a wonderful restaurant serving good food, including locally caught fish.
The tables are all outside offering great views of the sheltered bay, small harbour and the Stavros mountain of Vardies. It’s a wonderful place to eat, either during the day or at night. Definitely worth fitting in to your holiday schedule.
This is a very traditional Greek restaurant, with a great choice of food. They do a 3 course set menu, which is very good value and includes a glass of wine. Or, with such a large selection of starters to choose from, we often just have a range of starters, adding more if we’re still hungry.
Beautifully laid out villa with everything you need. Lovely & peaceful outside terraces & pool with views of the mountains & incredible sunsets. Villa David is in a lovely area with a few shops & plenty of good tavernas. Would definitely stay there again. Loved it.
